Zogby International Poll Supports Impeachment!
A majority of Americans support impeachment if you believe the new poll just released by After Downing Street.org. Done by Zogby International, by a 52% to 43% margin, Americans agreed with the following statement.
“If President Bush wiretapped American citizens without the approval of a judge, do you agree or disagree that Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment?”
So before the Republicans launched impeachment proceeding, a series of polls listed at democrats.com found an average of only 26% support for impeaching Clinton.
So where is the major media? Sitting on the sidelines just like they did during the buildup to the Iraq War. It just like in George Orwell’s book 1984. We are at war and we must support our President. It’s like in the book:
“He knew in advance what O’Brien would say. That the Party did not seek power for its own ends, but only for the good of the majority. That it sought power because men in the mass were frail cowardly creatures who could not endure liberty or face the truth, and must be ruled over and systematically deceived by others who were stronger than themselves. That the choice for mankind lay between freedom and happiness, and that, for the great bulk of mankind, happiness was better. That the party was the eternal guardian of the weak, a dedicated sect doing evil that good might come, sacrificing its own happiness to that of others. The terrible thing, thought Winston, the terrible thing was that when O’Brien said this he would believe it.”
Substitute “Bush” or “Cheney” for “O’Brien” and it reads no different does it? Doesn’t it sound like something you could imagine them saying and believing?
Unfortunately 1984 has come and gone and we are in 2006 but it only proves more prescient I guess in that Orwell was talking about an oligarchy in 1984 and what do we have now in America?
